Who we are

Veto is small, family-run workshop based in Alexandra, New Zealand, specialising in custom cargo bikes, carbon fibre repairs, and one-off compoite parts. We design and build everything ourselves - from the moulds to the finished pieces - focusing on practical solutions and thoughtful craftsmanship.

We believe progress comes from questioning the status quo. By developing our own compression-moulding techniques and rethinking traditional designs, we're able to reduce waste and produce equipment that will last a lifetime. Whether it's a custom cargo bike built for real-world use or an experimental repair technique, we're driven by that moment when a stubborn problem cracks open to reveal a smarter solution. It's not about being different for its own sake - it's about building things that work better because we dared to try another way.

Conscious Carbon

We're proud to be developing a composite construction technique never before used in the bicycle industry.

Founded and fine-tuned during production of the Long John all-terrain longtail, the process of compression moulding the frame using a specifically designed carbon fibre make-up has led to vastly increased efficiency, precision, and repeatibility while also virtually eliminating waste from consumables and offcuts. The Long John was designed around this process and represents a significant departure from decades of carbon fibre bicycle manufacturing.

To demonstrate, the adjacent image shows two identical parts and their associated waste. The right hand side was built by infusion (VARTM), and on the left by wet compression moulding.

We strive to deliver maximum performance with minimal environmental impact by using light weight materials and optimising designs for durability. At the end of the day, you can have your cake and eat it too, if you're smart about your process.
